Oh, Mel Gibson. You're the craziest, most hateful, drunk-drivin'est man to ever be named People magazine's Sexiest Man Alive.

'Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona and one of Mr. Lieberman’s closest friends in the Senate, called him “one of the most decent men I have ever known” and simply shook his head when asked about his friend’s situation. “I hesitate to say anything nice about him, for fear that it would be used against him,” Mr. McCain said. “And that’s a terrible commentary on the state of politics and the political climate today.”'

Lieberman's in trouble, maybe.
I wouldn't vote for the guy. Even if it wasn't for the Iraq stuff, or the 2000 election, there's still the culture-war campaigning, especially the anti-video-game stuff. But he's got lots more loot than his competitor. And incumbents usually win. And, importantly, people like me don't count for much, politically. By 'people like me' I mean liberals. Or maybe I mean people on the Internet. Either way, though, my guess is that Senator Lieberman will sail through his primary and then handily win reelection.

Also, Rolling Rock has been bought by Anheuser-Busch, and production will be moving from Latrobe, PA (where I've got some family members) to Newark. The A-B folks, manufacturers of fine beverages like Tequiza, Bud Dry and Hurricane malt liquor, will no longer be using spring water from the Laurel Highlands region of Pennsylvania. They claim to have replicated the taste.

It's too late for petitions, but there's still time to appear in a documentary.

Bad news for more than a few families in western PA. For beer fans, though, things haven't been the same in years.

Now, Latrobe will be best known for this guy, and the delicious beverage that bears his name.

One more Rolling Rock link, from the Philly Daily News' Joe Sixpack column. That's right, a regular newspaper column about beer.

"It's safe to say that a wealthy kid from the suburbs can play 'Grand Theft Auto' without turning to a life of crime, but a poor kid who lives in a neighborhood where people really do shoot cops and steal cars and deal drugs might not be so fortunate. There's almost certainly a child somewhere in the America who is going to be hurt by this game. Maybe his dad is in jail or his big brother is already down on the corner dealing drugs."
