I just finished reading
L.A. Rex, by Will Beall. Beall is an LAPD officer, and this is his first novel. It blends the worlds of corrupt cops, high-priced celebrity lawyers and gangsta rap, and it's based somewhat on
Oedipus the King. Okay, frankly, either that description sold you or it didn't. It's not perfect, but it's (obviously) ambitious, and Beall has a great voice. I enjoyed it very much.
