Here's a list of the songs in the very-soon-to-be-released Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s:

(Bang Your Head) Metal Health - Quiet Riot
We Got the Beat - The Go-Go's
I Ran (So Far Away) - A Flock of Seagulls
Balls to the Wall - Accept
18 and Life - Skid Row (encore)
No One Like You - Scorpions
Shakin' - Eddie Money
Heat of the Moment - Asia
Radar Love - White Lion
Because, It's Midnite - Limozeen
Holy Diver - Dio
Turning Japanese - The Vapors
Hold on Loosely - .38 Special
The Warrior - Scandal
I Wanna Rock - Twisted Sister
What I Like About You - The Romantics
Synchronicity II - The Police
Ballroom Blitz - Krokus
Only a Lad - Oingo Boingo
Round and Round - Ratt
Nothin' But a Good Time - Poison
Lonely is the Night - Billy Squier
Bathroom Wall - Faster Pussycat
Los Angeles - X
Wrathchild - Iron Maiden
Electric Eye - Judas Priest
Police Truck - Dead Kennedys
Seventeen - Winger
Caught in a Mosh - Anthrax
Play With Me - Extreme

What a shrill, pointless decade. Not necessarily the songs I would've picked, but isn't that always the way? Besides, I'm glad they got some punk in there.

'I Want Candy' was on the list for a while, but they got rid of it. I was thinking it might've been because of nudie photos of the then-teenaged Annabeth Lwin, but, hey, 'Seventeen' is in there, and it's one of the most jailbait-y songs since 'I Saw Her Standing There.'

Correction: Annabella Lwin, not Annabeth. What do I look like, a Bowwowwologist?

Comments:
that sort of invites the question: what would your picks be?

I like the Iron Maiden pick. I wonder about a certain laziness in the Police pick. You should throw in something from Daydream Nation or You're Living All Over Me. Also, where is the Journey?!!!1

One of the earlier Guitar Hero games had 'Message in a Bottle' in it.

Maybe it's heresy, but if it were me, and I were picking songs for an '80s GH, I'd try hard to slip a hip-hop song in there--I'm leaning toward 'King of Rock,' which has the added advantage of featuring non-sampled rock guitar, but there might be something even better--say, 'Go Cut Creator Go,' which relies heavily on a 'Johnny B. Goode' sample.

To the best of my recollection, Journey isn't in any of the other games either--maybe it's a rights issue.

Oh, and I'm kinda half-tempted to make up a list of '80s songs, but '80s rock is very much not my musical strong suit. Then again, why should that stop me?

Don't forget that the game is Guitar Hero, not Synthesizer Hero. That cuts out a lot of your 80s mainstays right there. I'm surprised A Flock Of Eagles is on the list, even.

"Holy Diver", what an odd choice.

I see no Van Halen. The 80s WERE Van Halen! And ZZ Top. What up with that?
