"There's a real problem with this Internet thing and everyone thinking they have a voice. This is where freedom can get out of hand. Everybody should not have a voice is what we've just proven by the Internet. Because I'm convinced that Jesus Christ could come back onto this earth and forgive everybody's sins, and it'd be the greatest day in mankind ever. Somebody would take a picture of him. They'd put him on a Web site like TMZ, and the first comment would be 'Jesus is a douche bag.' You know what I'm sayin'?"--Kid Rock, in a CMT interview (via Idolator)

"I really didn't mean anything against [John Mellencamp]. He's a pretty good songwriter. He's from Middle America, and that's what he writes about. Maybe too much sometimes. "I was born in a small town." OK, we get it. But, you know, he was born in a small town. Look at me and New Orleans. I've spent a thousand days there total, and I've squeezed every last drop out of that place, right down to the accent."--Randy Newman

Linguistic changes I'm not necessarily thrilled about: 'biker,' used to mean 'bicyclist'; 'gauge,' used in the context of piercing as anything other than a unit of measurement.

Unrelated linkdump: Oh Word has a nice gallery of Beijing graffiti. Here's a gorgeous MAME cabinet. And here's Dark Forces Swing Blind Punches' Tony Oxley mixtape. Oh, and DIY audiophile projects.
